The Henderson Family

James and Rana Henderson enrolled their son James III ("Tripp") at SLCD in 2014. Tripp was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at 2.5 years old. By the time he was 4, James and Rana had tried two different educational settings and were looking for a school that would serve Tripp's needs for the long term. They found that at SLCD, where the teachers and administration provide an exceptional educational and social experience. In the three years since he started preschool at SLCD, Tripp, now in second grade, has made amazing strides that the family prays are only the beginning of the journey to his potential.

James and Rana are committed to supporting SLCD - it is not only a home for Tripp, it is a place of support for his family. The Hendersons participated in the 2016 Food & Wine Tasting, having the Tripp & Cooper Cafe serve its signature crepes. Rana has volunteered each year to serve as class parent. She joined the PTFA board as Secretary in 2015 and is currently in her second year as PTFA board President. The whole Henderson clan (and grandma!) can often be spied helping out at PTFA events.

James serves as Regional Director for Doherty Enterprises, overseeing several food retail locations in the NY area. Since shuttering Tripp & Cooper Cafe, James is on a search for his next entrepreneurial opportunity. Before having Tripp and becoming a stay-at-home-mom, Rana was an analyst at the New York Stock Exchange. The couple has since had two more children - Cooper, aged 5, and infant daughter Devon. Rana looks forward to working outside of the home when the children are older.
